More MEPs voted against the EU's Chat Control law than for it, but it survived anyway, because rejection needed an absolute majority in a chamber that had already half emptied for the summer. No rule was broken, and that is the scandal. Brussels has treated a No as a scheduling problem before.
In the pipeline
There are usually a couple of things going at once, a longer essay arguing a position all the way through, and shorter commentary on something current, like a policy decision or a debate I think is going the wrong way. The essays take a while. The commentary goes out when it's ready rather than on a schedule.
How topics get chosen
Most pieces start the same way: I read an article or listen to a talk, and an argument comes up that I can't answer on the spot. So I write my answer down, using the arguments I know and researching the ones I don't. If I don't end up with a real position, I don't publish the piece.
