Nik Khosravipour
I graduated from WU Vienna with a BSc in Business and Economics, specializing in economics. I'm now a research intern at AIER.
My main focus is monetary policy and currencies, though I also write about macroeconomics more broadly and the political conditions markets operate under. Within monetary policy, I look at how central banks communicate and how markets interpret what they say. I also try to estimate how much policy decisions change market prices. That can be difficult to separate from everything else happening in the economy at the same time.
Research
I'm a research intern at AIER in Great Barrington from August to November 2026. There, I'm using an event-study design to study how a stablecoin issuer's decision to freeze funds affects wallet choices between USDC and USDT. I don't have results yet.
I write up most of my research here. In the longer pieces, I try to answer a question fully. The shorter notes cover things I found interesting and wanted to record. Both are in the research archive.
Students For Liberty Austria
I joined Students For Liberty Austria in 2023 and have been National Coordinator since 2024. It's the Austrian chapter of the international classical-liberal student network. Starting with almost nothing, I built a national network with think-tank partners and regular events in Vienna.
Speakers from the Cato Institute and the Austrian Economic Center have joined our events. I also write the policy pieces we send to students.
Methods & tools
Econometrics
I work with time series and panel data, including VARs, in R and Python. Most of my applied work is in R. I use Python mainly for data wrangling and scripting.
Economic theory
I study monetary theory and the business cycle. Austrian and institutional economics shape the questions I ask, and I use standard empirical methods to answer them.
Financial markets & policy
Fixed income, the yield curve, and central-bank policy.
Systems & dev
I use PHP, JavaScript, and Docker, and know enough server administration to keep things running. This site runs without a framework on a server I host and maintain myself.
What I'm looking for
From mid-November 2026, I'm looking for research or analyst roles in finance, including banking and financial markets, as well as at think tanks, policy institutes, and central banks working on monetary policy or macro. Research internships are also an option. I'm open to academic collaborations and independent projects too. The quickest way to reach me is by email.
